The Madison Midwives promotes a continuous and compassionate model of women’s healthcare, partnering with women to provide individualized methods of care. We believe women should play an active role in their health care decisions and the midwife will provide knowledgeable and compassionate care in partnering with women as they make these decisions. Working with a collaborative group of practitioners at Physicians for Women provides the opportunity to partner with Board Certified Obstetrics/Gynecologists in consultation, collaboration and referral within the health care team as needed to provide optimal health care for women.

Christine Kern Steffen has been working with the pregnant women and infants of Dane County since 2003 in many different capacities; as a Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga teacher, a Doula, a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery and now as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Christine received an Advanced Degree as a Certified Nurse Midwife from Marquette University in 2012 and is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) provide care starting with a woman’s first period until after menopause, plus all the important health events in between.
